PIDA Awards double finalist thinkpac ReCree8 PCR Pallet Wrap Range

Award Finalist Announcement

thinkpac Named
Double Finalist at 2026 PIDA Awards for ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap Range

thinkpac’s ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap Range is a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards.

The nomination recognises our work to introduce 50% post-consumer recycled content into industrial stretch film.

PIDA Awards Recognition for ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap

The PIDA Awards have recognised thinkpac as a double finalist for its ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap Range. The range appears in both Sustainable Packaging Design and Outside of the Box Design.

This matters because pallet wrap has long depended on virgin plastic. Now, businesses can choose a pallet wrap range with 50% post-consumer recycled content.

As a result, Australian businesses can reduce virgin plastic use without changing their wrapping systems.

What Are the PIDA Awards?

The Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards, also known as the PIDA Awards, recognise packaging innovation across Australia and New Zealand.

The Australasian Institute of Packaging coordinates the awards. In addition, an independent judging panel reviews the entries.

The PIDA Awards also give Australia and New Zealand a pathway into the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards.

The 2026 winners will be announced on 28 July 2026 at The Aviary, Crown Complex, Melbourne, alongside foodpro.

PIDA Awards Entry: What Did thinkpac Submit?

thinkpac entered the ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap Range. This range includes industrial stretch films made with 50% post-consumer recycled resin.

The range includes:

  • One hand-applied pallet wrap for manual wrapping
  • Two machine-applied pallet wrap options for automated and semi-automated wrapping
  • One consistent formulation across all three products

Each product uses 50% ReCree8® post-consumer recycled resin and 50% virgin LLDPE. The ReCree8® resin comes from 100% post-consumer soft plastic waste.

The full range is available for wholesale distribution in Australia.

ReCree8® Resin Behind the PIDA Awards Finalist Range

ReCree8® is thinkpac’s post-consumer recycled polymer. We produce it from 100% post-consumer soft plastic waste.

The resin supports demanding industrial film applications. Therefore, it must deliver strength, consistency and smooth processing.

Source

100% post-consumer soft plastic waste.

Production

Produced through thinkpac’s recycling operations in Malaysia.

Application

Made for high-stress industrial film use.

Verification

Material-level independent verification applies.

Why the PIDA Awards Recognition Matters for PCR Pallet Wrap

Pallet wrap is widely used in logistics, warehousing, food processing and supply chains. However, this category has mostly relied on virgin plastic.

Pallet wrap must stretch, recover and hold loads under pressure. Because of that, recycled content can be difficult to introduce.

The ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap Range tackles this challenge directly. Its 50% PCR level gives businesses recycled-content impact while keeping the performance needed for industrial use.

What the range delivers:

  • 50% post-consumer recycled content across the full range
  • Consistent stretch, recovery and containment force
  • Compatibility with current hand and machine wrapping equipment
  • Mono-material polyethylene structure
  • No PFAS, BPA or additives that disrupt polyethylene recycling
  • A consistent formulation across all SKUs

Which PIDA Awards Categories Shortlisted thinkpac?

Sustainable Packaging Design — PIDA Awards Finalist

This category recognises packaging solutions that consider material choice, source reduction, energy use and recovery.

  • 50% post-consumer recycled content
  • Mono-material polyethylene structure
  • Material efficiency without increasing film weight
  • Lower virgin polymer use
  • Industrial use without equipment changes

Outside of the Box Design — PIDA Awards Finalist

This category recognises packaging innovation that sits outside usual product categories.

For thinkpac, this reflects a practical industrial range. It is not a display-only product. Instead, it is a commercial pallet wrap range with consistent recycled content across every SKU.

How Does thinkpac Structure Its Supply Chain?

thinkpac uses a vertically integrated model across recycling, resin production, manufacturing and distribution.

  1. We manage post-consumer soft plastic collection and recycling through family-owned recycling operations in Malaysia.
  2. We produce ReCree8® resin from 100% post-consumer soft plastic waste.
  3. Specialist partner manufacturers make the film using ReCree8® resin.
  4. Our Melbourne warehouse distributes the finished product to wholesale customers in Australia.

This model gives thinkpac stronger control over recycled-material quality. It also lets us work with proven film extrusion partners.

What Does This PIDA Awards Finalist Range Mean for Businesses?

The ReCree8® range gives Australian logistics, warehousing, food processing and cleaning businesses a practical way to reduce virgin plastic use.

  • No equipment changes required
  • No change to palletisation processes
  • Verified recycled content for ESG and procurement commitments
  • Wholesale-scale availability, not a limited pilot product

Therefore, procurement teams now have a credible recycled-content option in a high-use packaging category.

PIDA Awards and ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap FAQs

What is PCR pallet wrap?

PCR pallet wrap is stretch film made with post-consumer recycled resin. This resin comes from plastic that consumers have already used and sent for recycling.

Does recycled content pallet wrap perform like virgin pallet wrap?

The ReCree8® PCR Pallet Wrap Range aims to deliver consistent stretch, recovery and containment force.

What certifications apply to thinkpac’s recycled content?

ReCree8® resin carries material-level independent verification. In addition, thinkpac’s recycling operations hold GRS and RecyClass certification.

Is ReCree8® PCR pallet wrap recyclable?

The range uses a mono-material polyethylene structure. As a result, it can suit soft plastics mechanical recycling pathways where industrial collection exists.

Where is the ReCree8® pallet wrap available?

The range is available in Australia through thinkpac’s wholesale distribution network and e-commerce partners such as Packtowork.
